How it works

From signing up to your first conversation. In about ten minutes.

LivedThrough is peer support, not therapy. The flow is built to get you into a real conversation with someone who actually understands — quickly and safely.

  1. 01

    Tell us where you are

A 60-second check-in. Stage you're in, what you actually want from a conversation, and the language you'd rather speak. We use it to rank peers — never to label you.

  2. 02

Pick a peer who's been there

Every provider you'll see has personally walked through the tags on their profile, written their own story in their own words, and passed an orientation on scope and crisis handling.

  3. 03

Meet in a private 1:1 session

Sessions are 60–90 minutes inside a private chat (with optional video). The provider opens the room when you book and closes it at the end. Messages live in that session and nowhere else.

  4. 04

Reflect, rate, repeat if it helps

After the session you can leave a private rating that shapes future matches. Re-book the same peer or try someone new — whichever fits.

What a session actually looks like

A session is a scheduled 1:1 chat room. Your provider accepts the request, the room opens at the start time, you both stay in it until either of you ends it, and the messages stay readable to the two of you only.

If a session ever tips into a crisis — active risk, urgent medical need, anything requiring a professional — the provider is trained to surface crisis resources and pause. That isn't a failure mode; it's the design.

What it isn't

Not therapy. Not coaching credentials. Not a replacement for medical care. Peer support is one specific tool: the relief and orientation that comes from talking to someone who has actually been on the other side of what you're facing.
